The Role

If you're the person we're looking for, you have a good idea of what this job looks like on a day-to-day basis. Here is a high-level overview of the position.

You will oversee all aspects of product management, globally, for one of our largest product lines. Reporting to you will be a Product Manager. You also will interact extensively with other departments, including operations, engineering, aftermarket, commercial, sales and marketing. Quick question for you - click here

We'll look to you to take a three-stage approach to re-envisioning. The first stage will involve a shorter-term goal around tightening financials, such as margins and pricing. During stage two you'll work to evolve the product line, providing strategic direction around product mix as well as managing process changes. Third stage goals will revolve around creating a future vision for the product line, consistent with corporate objectives. This will include new product development, new business models and more.

Strategically, you'll work with market sector leads, engineering management, global sales, operations, and design centers to develop and launch new products, open up new market sectors (product and geographical) and manage the lifecycle of existing products. You'll also collaborate with Global Functional Leadership to align the overall manufacturing and “Go-To-Market” strategy for mixer products within SPX Flow global strategy.

Tactically, across all relevant markets and regions and across all functional areas including Commercial, Engineering and Operational areas, you will be responsible for monitoring results in general and progress in product developments in particular. You'll act as the “Advocate” for the product line -- challenging poor performance where necessary, but also coordinating best practice globally.

Specific responsibilities will fall into the areas of:
  • Product line strategy and planning
  • New product development
  • Product lifecycle management
  • Product and market training and promotion
  • Providing leadership for stakeholders
We'll measure your success in terms of business results (order intake, profitability, revenue, etc.), market share, customer satisfaction and other metrics.

Note: this description is intended to give you a general overview of the position and is not an exhaustive listing of duties and responsibilities.

More Good Reasons

Move the needle
You'll take over a well-established product line, but your success will come from fresh ideas and new approaches. We're re-engineering product management across the company to promote this spirit and support aggressive corporate growth objectives.

Broad visibility = broad exposure
As you can see under The Role tab, you'll interact with people in multiple functional areas, giving you a bird's eye view of our corporation. You'll present to senior leadership several times throughout the year, and you'll also share ideas and insights with a group of about 25 talented product management professionals.

Professional development
Across SPX Flow, we are proactive about helping our people grow. In fact, we have partnered with Indiana University to create training programs specific to product management, as well as programs in competencies such as leadership.

Build a career home
Product management plays a highly important function in SPX Flow. Prove yourself here and you'll be well positioned to take your career with us in multiple directions -- both here in the US and abroad.

The "best of both worlds"
The corporation has decades of success behind it and offers stability and resources. At the same time, we're pursuing a number of exciting initiatives to carry us into the future.

Engaging environment
You'll find strong entrepreneurial spirit here, along with a work hard/play hard attitude. In addition to offering flexible work arrangements, we are proactive about recognizing and rewarding strong performance.

Excellent compensation
In addition to competitive base + incentive plan, you'll enjoy a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical and dental choices with costs shared by the employee and SPX FLOW; an employee-paid vision plan; a retirement savings plan with company match; paid time off; and more. Benefits begin day one.

Keys to Success

Your product management expertise and business acumen will be essential, but just as important will be strong leadership and interpersonal skills. You won't achieve goals without the support of people across the organization, and you'll need to build collaborative cross-functional relationships in a matrixed and sometimes complicated corporation. In addition, you'll be a change agent, so you'll need to have the influencing skills to get people on board with new ideas and processes.

You will "own" the strategic vision for your product portfolio, but you'll need to be able to create and execute action plans in order to make that vision a reality. In the process, you should be adept at modifying your message for different audiences, from engineers to commercial teams. You don't need to have engineer-level knowledge, but you should be comfortable talking about technical aspects of the products.

In addition, in order to be an outstanding Director, Product Management, you will:
  • Take a proactive approach to getting up to speed quickly with the products, markets and our business model
  • Assess products and processes with fresh eyes, now and on an ongoing basis
  • Manage multiple responsibilities and priorities effectively

  • Combine analytical skills and creativity in solving problems
  • Bring a strong work ethic along with a sense of ownership and accountability
