You may occasionally be asked to travel, such as to visit another site to learn best practices, or to visit a customer location, but it’s expected that total travel will be less than 10% of your time. You’ll need the flexibility to occasionally work outside of normal business hours, such as to take calls with our global teams who are in a variety of time zones, or to finalize orders for the month end closing process.

The Role

Reporting to the VP of Sales for Heat Exchangers and Dehydration in the Americas, you will be a key part of the sales and marketing team. You will be responsible for supporting the commercial organization by leading back office functions including inside sales/customer service, and the application engineering team.

Your key goal is to ensure total coordination of customer service at all levels throughout the process, from the initial order inquiry through final confirmation of product delivery. Our products are “configured to order,” so you’ll work closely with the customer through the application engineering process, and you’ll need to have a strong understanding of the multiple touch points throughout the process so you can help define where improvement can happen.

There are a number of pieces to your role, including:
  • Assessment and planning -- You’ll begin by understanding our business, completing an assessment of where we stand, and leveraging that into a project list. You’ll also do a pragmatic assessment of the talent in your groups and put a plan in place to ensure the right people are in the right seats and have the right support.
  • Customer Service team -- You’ll have two direct customer service reports. Your goal on this side will be to use the foundation we have in place to build standardized service processes that you can implement, ensure the team adheres to, and have metrics to share. It’s all about innovation and improvement of timeliness and consistency of communications.
  • Application Engineering team -- You’ll define and monitor the abilities and strengths of your four AE team members, and create a tracking system to help us gain an understanding of current and future capacity needs.
  • Continuous improvement culture -- Across the customer service process you’ll take a continuous improvement approach. This extends to the overall business culture as well, as you bring a fresh eye to the business, thoughtfully challenge norms, drive forward, and push for positive, progressive change.
  • Accountability -- Throughout all of your plans and processes, you’ll come in with an accountability mindset, both for yourself (how will you measure and track your own success?) and for the team.
  • Relationships -- To keep everything moving smoothly, you’ll also need to build strong relationships with the team in Goldsboro. Rather than trying to push alone, you’ll be working hand-in-hand with the Operations Lead, the Supply Chain Lead, the Logistics Lead, and everyone else within the organization to build momentum and help everyone move forward together.
Note: this description is intended to give you a general overview of the position and is not an exhaustive listing of duties and responsibilities.

Keys to Success

Your leadership skills and change management abilities will be paramount to your success in this role. Although a strong commercial background in an industrial manufacturing setting and a track record of success in managing customer communication will be critical to excel here, the greatest opportunity involves leveraging your proven leadership skills and employee relations abilities to drive synergy and take your team to the next level of success.

You’ll need to possess excellent communication skills to interface internally with all departments (operations, supply chain, logistics, etc.) and to develop strong customer relationships. Our ideal candidate will be an advocate for the customer base, motivated by the positive impact you’ll have by improving service processes.
