The Requirements

To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. In addition, to be a good fit for the Manager, Engineering opportunity, you will have:
  • A bachelor's degree with a Mechanical Engineering or equivalent focus from a four-year college or university
  • 5 to 7 years of related experience and/or training in a new product development/design environment

  • Familiarity with hydraulics, fluid handling and/or rotating machinery; pump experience would be ideal
  • Experience with stainless steel products is strongly preferred, ideally in food & beverage
  • Experience with CAD applications (we use SolidWorks and AutoCAD Inventor) and the ability to create and interpret drawings, diagrams and technical instructions
  • Familiarity with manufacturing, project management, spreadsheet and word processing software
  • General mathematical skills
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and finite element analysis (FEA) would be helpful
  • Working knowledge of applicable industry standards, such as ASME, 3A and EHEDG

The Role

Reporting to the Vice President, Engineering for Food & Beverage, you will lead a team of about 15, including engineering and drafting resources. Primarily you and the team will support global pump design product engineering; you'll also support other products manufactured in Delavan, such as scraped surface heat exchangers.

From an operational standpoint, you'll focus on two key areas in engineering systems:

  • Technical order handling, including development and maintenance of material masters, order entry into SAP, etc.
From a leadership standpoint, you'll oversee the team to ensure projects are moving forward, provide input in design reviews, and provide training and talent development for the team. You'll also drive continuous improvement of design processes, tools and facilities.

More specifically, you will:
  • Develop and manage the department budget
  • Prepare thorough and reasonable cost estimates to be used in quoting engineered products
  • Design products, specify equipment, interface with customers, supervise designers and work with other departments to ensure on-time delivery of products, within budget, that conform to customer performance specifications
  • Design, develop and incorporate improvements into existing manufactured products based on marketing feedback of customer needs and wants
  • Implement in-house methods to improve efficiency and accuracy, thereby reducing costs in preparation of designs, cost estimates and execution of projects
  • Handle other duties as assigned
