The Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field

The Role

Overview
Reporting to the Applications Manager, you will apply your engineering knowledge and skills to review and evaluate technical specifications, size, cost, and equipment to generate comprehensive technical/commercial proposals for filtration equipment. You will support Regional Sales Managers (RSMs) selling to agents and to end users. You will have opportunities to work with everyone from the RSM all the way to the end users, providing technical expertise and training.

Role Details
You will join a team including three other Applications Engineers, and all of you will work across the various industries including Industrial, Oil & Gas, and Power & Energy. You'll partner with internal team members from RSMs to the Engineering team (when specs are outside the norm), as well as Operations, including Planning and Scheduling.

More specifically, some of your tasks will be to:
  • Review blueprints, plans, specifications and other customer documents to develop cost estimates and prepare comprehensive proposals for equipment to existing and potential clients.
  • Prepare comprehensive sales quotations and proposals for products, including sale price and delivery.
  • Work with current and prospective sales representatives and customers to establish needs, specifications and possible product modifications for future sales, primarily through telephone contact.
  • Research, collect and report information on the ability and capacity of company products and competing products.
  • Aid in the design and development of new equipment and systems, and redesign of existing systems, to fulfill the needs of customers.
  • Inform customers of technological improvements and of the advantages of using the company's products.
  • Propose changes in equipment or use of materials which would result in cost reduction or improvement in operations.
  • Provide technical services to customers relating to the use, operation, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Apply engineering knowledge to solve problems with unusual circumstances.
  • Modify or extend written guidelines to cover all situations and problems.
