The Role

Overview
In this new position, you will become a technical product expert who supports the sales of SPX Flow component and aftermarket equipment to your assigned region for Food and Beverage technologies. You'll primarily be working with our system technologies, helping our customers understand how our intellectual property (such as our pasteurization, drying, or evaporation system) can meet their need. Our average sale is $1MM to $5MM, and you'll be working with approximately 6 different technologies.

Sales Support
The sales team will do the up front work on a sale, then will bring you in when you're needed to talk to people from the purchasing company to answer questions and give them support to make their decision. Most of your interactions will be with other engineers, but you may sometimes need to explain technical concepts to people who have a non-technical background. There may also be times when you'll work with companies who use our processes as part of their product, similar to a distributor relationship, and they may ask for your expertise in working with their end-user customer as well.

Day to Day Details
While some presentations may be by phone or web, you'll travel about 30% of your time, much of which will be dictated by the needs of the sales team and/or customers, so you'll need to be flexible enough to free up your schedule to attend a short-turnaround out-of-town meeting if needed. When you're not traveling or working with the sales team on developing opportunities, you'll spend the rest of your time acting as a marketing coordinator for your products. You'll work with the marketing team to suggest ideas and provide the technical expertise to help them complete materials for marketing campaigns, etc.

In support of the above goals, some of your specific tasks will be to:
  • Call on end-users, distributors, OEM’s, engineering firms, and contractors in support of Sales objectives and SPX and Distributor personnel to promote, train and educate the customer on the features and benefits of our product lines, and to apply the specific product line into the customer’s systems/specifications.
  • Understand regional market conditions and competitive environment, providing regular updates on market conditions and identifying gaps in the product portfolio to meet market requirements. Support development plans for growth and communicate progress and corrective actions necessary for success with leadership teams.
  • Provide technical support, assist in negotiating and resolving problems (policy, performance, warranty, etc.), and provide answers to questions from SPX sales, service, engineering and manufacturing teams, distributors and customers.
  • Implement key product and market initiatives working closely with the appropriate SPX FLOW Global Product Manager(s), supply chain, manufacturing and SPX Sales teams.
  • Plan daily, weekly, and monthly work schedules, prepare required reports, write correspondence, make appropriate telephone calls and file paperwork. Maintain contact with the responsible representatives in the Customer Service, Engineering, and Production Departments regarding customer related questions and concerns.
Note: this description is intended to give you a general overview of the position and is not an exhaustive listing of duties and responsibilities.
